Firefly is for young modern families on a quest for what really matters.
I believe we each have lights within us and a purpose to share with our world. One of my favorite quotes, from Oprah, says it best:
"I've come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that's as unique as a fingerprint - and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you."
Sharing my light during joyful, sunny times and learning how to bravely keep it lit when it was only a flicker is how Firefly came to be.
So, welcome! I'm so glad you've found my sparkly place here on the web!

"How?" You say?
First let me tell you who I am and why you should trust me to help you find this dreamy family lifestyle.
I've always had an ability to communicate with children on a level that really builds connection.
Even as a preschooler I had a propensity for empathy. I would gently approach other children I saw crying and assure them, "I know. I know."
Throughout my years as a student, others have to be drawn to share their stories with me. I often receive comments on my observation skills and my unique way with words.
I studied at Carroll University, earning a B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and received professional teacher licensing for infancy through adolescence. I spent a few years teaching in several early childhood settings until I left work outside the home to take on the hardest job I've ever had, being a mother.
I am learning every day from the innate mindfulness, raw emotion, courage and tenacity of our two energetic little boys.
The past decade has found me trying to find my place in a world that can often feel difficult and dark. I've climbed my way to solid ground in recovery from postpartum illness, tumultuous relationships and other demons that threaten to extinguish the Light.
I have a deep passion for the magical time of early childhood and the crucial role a child's grown-ups shape their world. My goal is to help families raise children who are confident in who they are within an increasingly confusing world.
I am a Unitarian Universalist.
I am a minimalist.
I am fascinated by space and time.
I am a highly sensitive person, which basically means I have superpower-like senses and emotions.
I am a singer and dancer and get giddy excited about musicals.
I am a fan of symbolism, analogy, and metaphor, and I tend to notice them everywhere.
That's me! I'm so looking forward to getting to know you!
